When some hear the words Black Angel they think satanic, bad, as in everything dark. But these Black Angel Cards are here to change that perception. The Black Angel Cards were created by me with the help of some unseen light force that recognized my desperate need to heal. They have been renamed (from earlier versions of the work) The Black Angel Cards: Wisdom from an African Dreambody and so will be referred to by that name.
The Black Angel Cards: Wisdom from an African Dreambody (www.blackangelcards.com) is a divination system with a book of messages accompanied by self-illustrated deck of 36 cards. This body of work emerged from a lucid spiritual dream (and shamanic experiences) in 1996 after my first visit to India. At the time of the dream I had been working with the trauma and drama of my life the surfaced through my first seven years of practicing Buddha’s teachings. We have all been traumatized since birth and such trauma has blocked our true nature and purpose for living. The oracle is used to re-connect us to ancestral wisdom and unearth our true nature as innately awake and filled with the capacity to heal.
The images of the Cards are dream symbols designed to stimulate the unconscious and uncover hidden, suppressed, or lost aspects of the embodied self that need to be surfaced. In that context any one who suffers from internalizing the hatred often felt in our society will discover feelings and emotions that often keep us from seeing the wisdom of the moment. In removing obstructions this gift helps to heal and affirm our lives.
What is wisdom from an African dreambody?
I borrowed the term dreambody from Arnold Mindell. The dreambody exists as an awesome and mythic side of life that is experienced in near death episodes, lucid spiritual dreams, altered states of consciousness and in shamanic rituals. Through these experiences we are given greater insight into the nature of things in this world.
Prior to the spiritual emergence of the oracles, I had several near death experience. One of the events was my surviving a full blown anaphylactic shock incident in which the doctors had never seen anyone survive such an ordeal. The lucid dreams continued as I made my way to India and returned after several rituals in Tamil Nadu. Upon my return, I had five lucid dreams of reconciliation with my family members. On the sixth night I had the dream that revealed the Black Angel Cards. At that moment, I began to live out my dreambody as a Seer.
I sense that this dreambody is filled with African ancestral wisdom.
